by fairbank
What exactly are replacement windows?
A true replacement window is a window that's custom built to fit within the opening of an existing window. It's built to fit precisely and can be installed without disturbing the interior mouldings and casing around your windows on the inside.
What type of glass is your Glass?
Our glass is a proprietary glass solution for homeowners that are concerned about safety, security and energy efficiency. The Glass unit is constructed using two pieces of miracle strong glass, assembled on a warm edge miracle spacer, coated with a miracle coating that reflects heat, and filled with argon gas. The result is a strong and efficient window glass.
Can I find your glass anywhere else?
No. Our glass product is an exclusive high quality product selected from the best materials known in the industry.
Are your windows custom sizes or are they stock sizes?
Every Window is custom made. Our factory and the manufacturing systems are not designed for high volume standard-sized runs. It is optimized for custom-made windows. Every window is custom made to the exact size and dimensions we specify for your home.
Are there different kinds of vinyl used by window manufacturers?
Absolutely. Vinyls are like any other man-made compound. There are numerous components in vinyl compounds, and there are many vinyl manufacturers that produce numerous types and grades for window manufacturing. Lesser-quality vinyls typically have problems with brittleness or impact resistance, color consistency, and expansion and contraction. The best vinyls are proprietary compounds formulated specifically for manufacturing high-quality windows. We use a compound called ZX-3000. It is a natural white (not the bright appliance white so many companies use), has impact modifiers added to make it strong, and is guaranteed not to chip, crack, pit, corrode, or chalk.
Are Your Windows Energy Star Qualified?
Yes! All of our products are Energy Star certified, Windows can only carry the ENERGY STAR label if they are tested by an independent laboratory through the NFRC program and meet specific, predetermined energy efficiency measures. By selecting ENERGY STAR products, you will reduce your energy costs and help make the environment cleaner.
Does your glass windows help cut down on noise?
All windows and doors reduce noise to some degree. The best solution, however, is to use an insulating glass like Miracle Glass in windows where noise is a concern. Sound is nothing more than vibration, and the combination of thicker glass that is very dense, and the warm edge spacer provides as much as a 100 percent improvement in sound deadening over other glass types.
Does your glass windows help prevent fading of carpet, floors, pictures and furniture?
Using our glass in your new windows or doors will filter out damaging UV light. It features a special coating that filters out more than 88 percent of UV radiation that fades interior furnishings.
Does your glass windows help prevent intrusions?
Yes. Our glass is super strong and virtually unbreakable. Double locks are fastened into an alloy beam and help insure the window will not be easily pried open. So the combination of glass and construction can make a dramatic improvement in the vulnerability at your windows.
What is needed to clean the windows?
All our windows are easy to clean. Many styles offer dual tilt-in or pull-out sashes to make access easy, and because the glass is a smooth, non-pitted glass, cleaning it is especially easy!
What do I do to maintain my windows?
The windows are made to be maintenance free, but you should inspect them two times a year. Open and close them to make sure they operate smoothly, and most importantly inspect the caulking at, near, or around the window where it is set in the frame. Caulking is essential to keeping water out, and unfortunately, with the change in seasons, caulking can sometimes pull away as your house expands and contracts. Rest assured we use a high quality caulking that is not prone to brittleness, or to pulling free, but a visual inspection will be all it takes to be sure. If you see that the caulking around a window is loose, pulled free, or questionable, just call us. We will be happy to check it and redo it for you. It is all covered in your warranty.
